Zhongshan Dao : ウィキペディア英語版 | Zhongshan Dao
Zhongshan Dao (), alternatively known as Macau Island or Aomen Dao, is a name that is occasionally used to refer to a piece of land located on the west bank of the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong province, China. This area is separated from the mainland by a narrow waterway, and has a population of about 2,300,000. The mainland of Special Administrative Region of Macau is located at the southern tip of the island. The rest of the island (and more than 70% of the population) is part of the cities of Zhuhai and Zhongshan. The area is referred to as an island by some sources, such as the Columbia Encyclopedia.〔(Zhongshan )〕 However, this term is not in general use,〔Searching for 中山岛 on Google does not turn up any links that use the term in this sense within the first 50 search results despite the fact that the area contains three major cities; April 27, 2008〕 and sources such as the governments of Macau and Zhuhai do not refer to the area as an island. ==References==
